Longrigg Medical Centre: Salaried GP

Due to the upcoming retirement of our longest standing partner, Longrigg Medical Centre are recruiting for a new salaried GP to start in October/November 2022, with the option of future partnership.

We are an extremely friendly and welcoming practice currently consisting of 5 partners (3 of whom are former Longrigg GP trainees), 3 salaried GPs and a Nurse Practitioner. We are proud that so far every salaried doctor we’ve employed has remained working with us or gone on to become a partner in the practice.

The majority of our administrative work is done in a large communal space complete with workstations, kitchen and comfortable seating area. We have a culture of working and problem solving as a team. Discussions around clinical and organisational issues are strongly encouraged, both on an ad-hoc basis and in our weekly practice meeting. You will always find someone in the communal room available for support, or just a chat and a coffee (and a homemade cake if you’re lucky!). Supporting each other to maintain positive well-being and a healthy work-life balance are important aspects of our practice ethos. We regularly socialise together outside of work too. Most recently this has included spa evenings, Burn's night celebrations, meals out and a sunny afternoon at Gibside with all the kids!

We are committed to training and teaching with three GP trainers currently. We also teach medical students from Newcastle University at a variety of stages and all staff are encouraged to be involved with teaching.

We have strong links within our East Gateshead PCN and in the past two years have worked at scale to help deliver the vaccine programme and look forward to further collaboration in future. We already have 4 Community Link Workers, a Pharmacist, a Pharmacy Technician and a Primary Care Mental Health Worker, with other roles currently being developed.

We have embraced the changes brought about by the pandemic and are continuously evolving how we are working in order to provide the best service for our patients whilst maintaining a happy and supported team.

We are keen to support colleagues with development of additional clinical interests and would love to hear what skills or services you would like to bring to the practice in the future.

• GMS practice with 11000 patients

• Low home visiting rate

• EMIS web supported by Accurx/Mjog/Ardens

• High QOF achieving

• CQC rating GOOD

• Green impact bronze award 2019

We are flexible in terms of sessions and days worked and are happy to discuss how we can work around other commitments.

BMA standard agreement would apply including time-tabled paid weekly personal learning time and time off for appraisals.

We strongly encourage visits to look around and meet the team!

Please email or ring if you would like any more information.

Please send your CV and covering letter to Mrs Gail White, Practice Manager if you wish to apply.
