Election – Gateshead & South Tyneside Local Medical Committee

Election – Gateshead & South Tyneside Local Medical Committee

Gateshead Constituency: 7 Vacancies / South Tyneside Constituency: 7 Vacancies

Under the terms of the Constitution of the Gateshead & South Tyneside Local Medical Committee it is necessary to arrange for the election of committee members for the period 1 April 2022 – 31 March 2026.

The Local Medical Committee meets on a Monday evening, for approximately 2.5 hours, 8 times per year, and a fee of £116.64 is paid for each meeting attended. The document Roles and Responsibilities of Members can be accessed on the LMC’s website here.

Represented GPs are those performing primary medical services in the area for which the Committee was formed. The Register of Members is the combined register of represented GPs and committee members.

Represented GPs whose name appears in the Register of Members on 1 January in the year that the election takes place may be nominated. Every candidate for election must be nominated by at least two electors entitled to vote and the nomination in writing must be returned to the Returning Officer not later than 5pm on Monday 21 February 2022. Nomination forms are here (Gateshead / South Tyneside). Nominations cannot be accepted if the nominee has not duly signed the declaration.

If more than 7 candidates are nominated, an election will take place by postal vote. If there is an election, the voting papers issued should be returned by 5pm on Monday 21 March 2022. The election will take place on the morning of Tuesday 22 March 2022.

Yours faithfully

Mrs M Allan

Returning Officer
