Accountable to:

The GP Partners-Clinically

Practice Manager-Administratively

Ravensworth Surgery, Horsley Hill Road, South Shields, NE33 3ET

The Medical Centre, Wear Street, Jarrow, NE32 3JN

About us: We are an independent GP Practice with just short of 6000 patients over two sites. We hold family values as an integral part of running the surgeries as well as striving to maintain a good work/life balance which ultimately increases drive and application during the course of day to day work. Our set up comprises 2 partners [one a GP partner], Practice Manager, 2 long term locums alongside 2 permanent ANP's, a nurse and HCA and 9 non-clinical staff, whom all work between both sites when required.

Loyalty and kinship have been enjoyed in our team orientated practice, with colleagues tending to leave due to retirement or relocation only.

We hold regular meetings at all levels, where everyones' contribution is welcomed.

Job overview : To provide medical services and deal with a wide range of health needs within a primary care setting, ensuring high standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with being a GP in a primary care setting.

Main duties: The post-holder will undertake clinical sessions (routine and on-call) during the opening hours of the surgery, which may comprise face to face appointments, video or telephone appointments plus home visits. Any test-results, written communications, reports and queries generated from these consultations would fall under their remit and should be actioned in a timely manner. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness, provide counselling and health education, and act upon alerts (e.g. QOF) and reminders during their consultations and where appropriate be involved in the development of care plans.

Naturally maintaining continued education and participating in relevant training programmes, they would also alert other members of the team to issues regarding quality and risk, whilst taking accountability for their own actions and would follow the surgery policies and protocols including [but not limited to] those regarding confidentiality, health and safety and equality and diversity.

Expectations: Fully qualified GP. We are open to discussion around number of sessions per week and confirm we follow BMA guidance on contract salaries and benefits.

Please contact us to discuss this exciting position further.
